Richard Roque

Richard S. Roque is Managing Director of SA Capital Limited, Hong Kong a private investment company focused on triple bottom line impact investments. He has been involved in several social ventures including: Betterworldbooks.com, Lumni Inc., Mission Markets, a women’s educational radio network in Southern Philippines and Shanghai Zhida Hotel Management Co., Ltd. a leading student hostel chain in the major cities of China. In the field of education, Richard is also a director of Prism Group (a joint venture between Intermedia Consulting S.r.l. and East Asian Educational Association, a HK charity) which focuses on youth entrepreneurial leadership and social entrepreneurship and which for 2011/12 emphasis will be on fostering China-European collaboration.

 

Richard was previously associated for 12 years with William E. Simon & Sons (Asia) Limited, a private equity firm founded by the late US Treasury Secretary and he was also a director of the Sun Hung Kai China Investment Fund. Mr. Roque was previously Chairman of the Hong Kong Venture Capital and Private Equity Association in 2000-01 (“HKVCA”) where he currently remains as Chairman Emeritus. He frequently participates as a judge in social enterprise competitions in Asia such as Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC Asia-Africa Finals) and the Social Enterprise Business Plan Competition in Shanghai, China. Mr. Roque has a Global Executive MBA from IESE Business School, Barcelona and has taken the Executive Program in Social Entrepreneurship at Stanford University.
